The problem
Students and professionals struggle to find reliable collaborators for projects. Existing platforms are either too broad (LinkedIn) or too casual (Discord). LinkUp bridges this gap with a purpose-built environment where users can post project ideas, find teammates by skill, and communicate through secure in-app messaging — all without needing external tools.
Under the hood
Built with Next.js 15 App Router for server-side rendering and performance. TypeScript enforces type safety across the full stack. WebSockets via Supabase Realtime enable low-latency chat. Supabase was chosen over a custom PostgreSQL setup for its built-in auth, row-level security, and real-time capabilities — reducing infrastructure complexity while maintaining production-grade security.
