Project Overview
SmartDine was built to streamline fast-paced restaurant operations. Many dining establishments face inventory discrepancies, delayed kitchen tickets, and billing bottlenecks during peak meal hours. SmartDine addresses these hurdles with a modular, object-oriented desktop architecture built with JavaFX and MySQL.
The system handles complete table lifecycles (reserved, seated, billed, vacant), generates instant tax invoices, and triggers automatic threshold alerts when pantry ingredients fall below minimum safety margins.
Architectural Highlights
- Model-View-Controller (MVC) separation decoupling JavaFX FXML presentation from database services.
- Connection pooling and robust transaction boundaries via JDBC and MySQL.
- Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) distinguishing Cashier, Waitstaff, and Admin capabilities.
Key Capabilities
- Interactive graphical table layout with live status indicators
- Kitchen Order Ticket (KOT) routing and split billing automation
- Real-time inventory deduction linked to menu item ingredient mapping
- Daily and monthly sales reports exportable to PDF and CSV
